Grimaud Old Mould Plates
Originally, these old mould plates were used for printing texts, images or patterns on cloth throughout East Asia, and later, originating in China, on paper, too. Fabrics and paper were printed by putting the paper or fabric on a table or a flat surface with the block on top, and pressing, or hammering, the back of the block.
Very innovatively, these old mould plates are now being used as decorative items with some minor modifications. Grimaud is our series of old and beautiful one-of-a-kind artefacts. Every item is unique in its size, shape and colour.
The Grimaud series is a collection of unique pieces - old artefacts and items made of beautifully patinated recycled wood and/or iron. And it helps to add warmth, soul and history to the home.
The series includes beautiful decor, as well as furniture. Common to all Grimaud is that you can see traces and marks from its previous life and purpose.
Giving new life to old treasures is the whole philosophy behind the creation of Chic Antique, and the Grimaud series is the epitome of just that.
Please note that all Grimaud items are unique and no two are alike. This means that they may vary in design, size and type of wood.
